Pussy Riot Balaclava is finished!!

Free Pussy Riot!!

Well I knitted like mad all day yesterday.  All I had to do today was weave in loose ends and stitch in Free Pussy Riot on the front.  I used Ella Rae Classic 100% Wool.  I got this yarn as part of a SXSW knitalong at Hill Country Weavers in Austin, TX.    We knitted mic stand cozies for Kelley Deal.  I thought it was pretty appropriate to use yarn I got for a rock show to make a balaclava for a punk band.

If you make your own Pussy Riot balaclava, be sure to add it to the We Are Pussy Riot tumblr!!!

Freedom for Pussy Riot!!!

Go Go Pussy Riot!!!

In case you haven’t heard about them, Pussy Riot is a riot grrl punk band from Russia.  They performed a punk “prayer” at a Russian Orthodox Church asking the Virgin Mary to rid Russia of Vladimir Putin.  Well, three of the members were arrested and now they’ve been convicted of “hooliganism” and have to serve two years in jail.  Please visit Free Pussy Riot and donate!

And all you fellow knitters, knit yourself an awesome ski mask in a fun bright color, just like the members of Pussy Riot wear.  I’m going to modify this free pattern that I found on Ravelry called Jackyll & Hide by SasKnitsItAgain.

When I finish mine I’ll post a pic on my blog. I’m starting it today!

A Bit of Music Nostalgia – Samira: Walking in the Rain

I’ve had this stuck in my head for the past couple of days.  It was a minor hit in the 80s.  I can remember singing it on the playground.  I never knew who sang it.  I finally remembered to look it up today.  I couldn’t find a video so I found the nicest picture to look at while you listen to this lovely song.  Sorry I can’t embed the video just yet.  The Video Upgrade is a little outside my budget right now.  It’s worth clicking through!  Lovely, relaxed, R&B song with minimal piano and rain sounds.
